The Defensive Technologies Officer, or DTO, was a Division Officer in the Security Department aboard a starship or space station during the 24th century.
Besides running the division, responsibilities including deflector shield mainteance and internal security devices such as forcefields. They worked closely with the Engineering and Operations Departments.
The title was also used at Starbase 324 a position on the Anti-Borg Task Research Team.
