A light cruiser (LC) was a type of starship.
Typical missions included, but were not limited too, diplomatic and courier duties, support for larger vessels, reconnaissance, and patrol of outlying sectors.
Several classes started out with a different designation, but as time passed were regulated to this designation, such as Miranda and Constellation class ships.
