Patterson was Starfleet officer serving during the 24th century.
By 2371 he held the rank of Vice Admiral and was in command of the Starfleet region containing the Tarella System. That same year he dispatched reinforcements to the system upon discovery of a Tarellian ship and its survivors in wake of Alcyone threats. ("Homecoming")
