USS Mandela
The USS Mandela was an Ambassador class heavy cruiser serving in Starfleet during the 24th century.
By 2344 she was commanded by Demora Sulu.
In 2372 she relieved the USS Lionheart at Minos and began exploring the planet's ruins. ("Return to the Arsenal")
During the Dominion War, the Mandela was the flagship of the Fifteenth Fleet and was present at the Battle of Paxil V.
Gedna Tachion and Seff O'Rourke met with Fleet Admiral Pritol during the battle. ("Battlefield Lullaby")
In 2378 the ship was part of the deep space exploration mission dubbed Operation Slingshot, under the command of Captain Daniel Poitier, the ship's former XO, and the flagship of the task force.
The vessel was named for Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
