It was named for Abraham Silverstein, a man instrumental in Earth's Apollo Space Program.
In 2330 she was patrolling the Klingon-Federation border as part of the Second Fleet.
Ronald Garrett was part of the ship's navigation staff in 2344.
She was decomissioned in 2361.
